Duo Impulsive is a fruitful collaboration of the two Mozarteum graduates Richard Putz and Sergey Mikhaylenko.  Inspired by their performance at the Live Music Now project in 2017, they created the Duo of percussion instruments.

From baroque and late romantic music to minimalism of Steve Reich, the duo has a multifaceted repertoire. Committed to constant creative development and growth,  the ensemble also performs its own compositions. The recent premiere of Constellations for Marimba Duo by Richard Putz’s piece has been welcomed by the audience at the music festival Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 2018.

The project is also open to interdisciplinary projects such as live music for film and creative experiments with electronic music and free improvisation.

Genesis of Percussion

The new programme from Alexej Gerassimez opens up a masterly and multifaceted panorama: from silence and sound atmospheres through to roars of urban groove and complex compositions. “Genesis of Percussion” takes the audience on a musical journey of discovery through a wide range of rhythmical and stylistically confident cultures. For this project, star percussionist Alexei Gerassimez has brought together four of his best and most versatile colleagues: Lukas Böhm, Sergey Mikhaylenko, Julius Heise and Richard Putz.

The five multi-percussionists are interested in every potential sound source from our everyday life, whether bottles, pebbles, cans or sieves. Starting off with a splashing around in the water basin, this playfully turns into a grooving dubstep. From archaic body percussion on classical-romantic repertoire (Ravel, Tchaikovsky), Modern pieces  (Xenakis) up to rocky drum ecstasy in the compositions of Alexej Gerassimez.
