Born in Siberia, Sergey Mikhaylenko is a multifaceted percussionist based in Germany. Sergey excels in performing as a soloist and as a member of chamber music ensembles and orchestras in Germany and abroad. He holds the position of Principal Percussionist at the Symphony Orchestra of Göttingen since 2017.
Sergey has collaborated with the multiple exceptional orchestras: MusicAeterna Orchestra, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, Salzburger Camerata, Bremer Philharmoniker, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, and the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg. He performed concerts and operas conducted by Kirill Petrenko, Teodor Currentzis, Kent Nagano and Charles Dutoit.
After graduation from the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, class of Prof. Peter Sadlo, Alexej Gerassimez and Ernst-Wilhelm Hilgers, Sergey is currently sharpening his knoweledge and skills as a Master student at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. Under the mentorship of Prof. Franz Schindlbeck, Prof. Reiner Seegers, and Prof. Biao Li, Sergey is committed to pushing the musical boundaries of sound with percussion instruments.
